ICEOutVt tomorrow, Friday, May 8th, in St. Albans

IceOutVt is a coalition of folks, including the organizations listed on the webiste at https://iceoutvt.org/our-plan.

It is organizing a peaceful protest at Taylor Park in St. Albans for May 8 and the website explains the purpose and goals. Folks from all over the state are attending and we are hoping for a significant turn-out.

At the beginning of the protest members of the clergy and people of faith will be part of a 5 -10 minute presentation (one speaker and one song). We would like as many people as we can gather to hold tombstones with the names of people who have died in ICE custody. WE NEED YOU! We have over 70 'tombstones' to carry.

The ask: Show up at the gazebo at Taylor Park between 11:30 and 12. Hang out until 12 and then take a short walk with one of the cardboard tombstones to help us display the names of the deceased. Then return the tombstone to the gazebo.

This is an EASY WAY to have an important roll in this event. People of all faiths and people of faith and spirituality outside the familiar are all welcome to participate!

Feel free to email questions to Susan McMillan at

smcmillan@diovermont.org. Please show up. Please bring a friend. Please be a part of the resistance.

Outreach Ministry Team Volunteer Survey

The Outreach Ministry Team would like to deepen our community connection through exploring where the members of our congregation volunteer outside of CSCC. This will enable us to:

  • learn about organizations or initiatives that we could support more fully

  • provide networking opportunities for members who may be interested in an organization or cause

  • enrich our community as we get to know more about each other

We will collect this information in two ways: An online survey and in person after church on Sunday.

To take the survey, click on this link:

https://forms.gle/p2mCEhcPBPUtyVJh7

After church, in person, we will have sticky notes and pens for people to write down their volunteer info, name and way to contact them (email, text or phone). These will be placed on a board at the back of the church.

For Zoom congregants, we will ask you to write down your volunteer information and preferred contact info in the chat.

Thank you for participating in the survey or via sticky notes. We will share the information we collect with the congregation. Any questions, contact Mary Alice Favro at bfieldsgoshen@gmail.com

Each week centers on a theme, exploring topics in ways that engage both children and adults—like why spirituality matters, what does it mean to 'be good' or 'be bad', and even big questions like whether magic (or the Easter Bunny!) is real.

Fill Our Food Pantry

Several years ago the Youth Group built a Food Pantry and placed it on the corner of our church yard near S. Union St.  It’s a great location and is often empty.  This note is a rally call!

Let’s make sure there is food and/or other non-food items at least every Sunday.  There is a link in the News from the Pews each week to sign up. When the link opens, scroll down for a shopping list of food and non-food items you can contribute. If can swing by and contribute during the week, that would be great too!

Thanks for your participation--Mary Alice Favro
